On Saturday 20th October 2018 we were awarded Excellence in Sustainability at the HelloWorld Erina Group Central Coast Business Excellence Awards! The HelloWorld Erina Group Central Coast Business Excellence Awards celebrate and recognise business excellence in the Central Coast region.
Since our conception, we have worked hard to ensure that we are providing an ethical and sustainable product to our consumers. We have established key sustainability goals in different areas of our business operations that have been recognised for Excellence in Sustainability. Regarding our social investment goals, we have implemented “Bounce Back” where 2.5c of each bag sold in the last two financial years is donated to a local and international association/charity. Locally we give a portion of our sales to Rotary Club Wyong Tuggerah which assists a number of local area causes including the Eating Disorders Outpatient Service which is the primary source of support, information and treatment for people with eating disorders and their families on the Central Coast, NSW. Internationally our donation helps Borderless Friendship WA Inc (BFWA). This is an Australian not-for-profit organisation that improves the lives of hill tribe children in Northern Thailand.
With the ever-growing education around how plastics are impacting our environment Bounce Rubber Bands made the momentous decision to move towards a 100% biodegradable product and packaging by 2020. Our rubber bands themselves ate 100% biodegradable, and we currently have our 100g bags in recyclable/compostable packaging. Bounce Rubber Bands are high-quality natural rubber bands produced from Thailand sourced rubber. The latex used is a renewable and biodegradable resource, extracted from trees without causing harm. Synthetic rubber contains toxins that can cause environmental damage if they leach into the soil. We plan to reduce the chance of environmental contamination by increasing Bounce Rubber Bands market share. Our decision to be transparent about our place of manufacture, processes and marketing of such through our blog, social media channels and corporate social responsibility initiatives have ultimately helped achieve our growing success. In 2016 we visited Thailand to ensure that our chosen suppliers were working towards basic Australian working and environmental standards. We found two reputable suppliers to work with, which was a significant achievement in providing an ethical product to our consumers. Since our visit, we have been strategising how we can influence our suppliers to meet global sustainability measures.
We are very proud to be recognised for our hard work and efforts in working towards a sustainable and ethical product. Congratulations to all our hardworking team who have contributed to the success of Bounce Rubber Bands over the years, and a big THANK YOU to all our customers for your continual support. Next stop, the State Annual Awards in November!
